Student COVID-19 Home Testing Kits

Dear Parents/Carers

Student COVID-19 Home Testing Kits

As you are aware all students have been tested on the school site to check they do not have Covid-19, are not ‘A symptomatic’ but also to make them confident to carry out tests at home.  Today we have issued your child with their first batch of test kits and explained that they are to take the tests twice a week, on a Wednesday evening and Sunday evening and report the results to both the school and to the NHS.  It is important to remember that although we have nominated set days for testing, if your child shows symptoms of Covid-19, they can book a PCR test through the NHS at any time.

By your child taking the test kits from school premises they have an obligation to take the tests and report their results, which we are sure you and they will do.

Parents are reminded that children aged 12 to 17 years of age can administer the test themselves.  If you would like more information on how to test your child please visit:  How to take a coronavirus self-test swab - Bing video

Written information and a step by step guide on how to take the test is contained here (‘Your Step By Step Guide for COVID-19 Testing’ ) and the data regulations regarding the retention of data are contained here (personal data)

You will receive an e-mail very shortly which will activate your child’s account.  Thereafter, every Sunday and Wednesday you will receive an e-mail from T Register also called Wonde

This email will have a link and it is this unique link that you need to click on to register your test.  You cannot use a link from a previous e-mail, it must be the one that was issued for that day’s test.

You will be asked a series of simple questions, which you will get used to after doing the test a few times and you will register your result.  Once you have registered your result with the school you will be asked to register the result with the NHS as well.  We have enclosed the process of logging a test result on the accompanying page, it is not as difficult as it first looks.

  • If your test result is negative you need do no more and the result will be logged, thank you.
  • If, however your test result is positive you and your family must immediately self-isolate and book a PCR test.  The PCR test is to confirm your home test result and is essential.
  • If positive you will be contacted by the school to confirm they have received the result and to remind you to book a PCR test immediately. The school will also start to employ their track and trace system to make sure others are notified and to keep others safe.

I am sure you are aware that you will be asked to home test over the Easter holidays and we will be issuing, just as soon as they are delivered, test kits to cover the holiday period as well.

We do not expect Wonde/T Register to crash or experience problems, but should this happen and the site is unavailable please do still report your test result directly to the NHS website here: .

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the process of testing, recording of results please do not hesitate to call Janet Swain, our COVID testing coordinator or e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Yours faithfully
