Over the hump

This week we are over half way through the first half term, which means that we are now on the ‘downward’ leg to the autumn break. By now students should be settled and in the routine of things again; we are very conscious that for some, it has been difficult returning to school after such a long time at home.  It has been really lovely seeing students tackling new challenges in lessons and striving to get as many achievement points as possible; a big well done to those students, you know who you are with over 30 points!

As students become more confident in their new setting, we are seeing some examples of silly and unacceptable behaviours particularly at break and lunchtime. Please could you talk to your sons/daughters about the need to behave appropriately, particularly due to the pandemic this is more relevant than ever in order to keep you and your families, other students and the staff at school safe.

It’s been another busy week for Year 9 as they have continued to meet all their teachers and should by now have had all of their timetabled lessons and school photographs took place on Monday. Extra curricular activities are starting to be introduced; Mrs Lawson is looking for singers and Mr Sala is looking for budding writers, so I hope that students will take the opportunity to get creative.

We hope you have a lovely weekend 😊

Welcome

It has been a great pleasure to welcome Year 9 to Stratton Upper School on Monday. Students have approached their return to education with enthusiasm and maturity; feedback from teachers and staff has been very positive and pleasing. It has been lovely seeing students taking the time to get to know one another, helping each other and making new friends.

Having spoken to a number of tutor groups this morning, I know that everyone is already very tired, so I hope you all manage to have a lovely, relaxing weekend.
