Headteacher's Blog - 13/9/2019

At the end of the first full week of the new term, I would like to say thank you to everyone for what has been a very positive start to the academic year. I am particularly pleased with the response from the students to the six Stratton Standards of Excellence, Community, Dialogue, Challenge, Resilience and Passion. As I walk around school, it is a pleasure to see such high levels of engagement and enjoyment in lessons across the curriculum.

We are also delighted with the response from the vast majority of students who have wholeheartedly embraced the new mobile phone policy. Overwhelmingly the most noticeable success has been the impact during break and lunch times. In our social areas, students are interacting with each other, laughing, playing and developing their friendships. The change in the atmosphere around the school site is remarkable and a joy to observe. This positive change would not have been possible without the support of parents and carers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contacted us about the new policy and for your support in reinforcing the policy with your children at home.

We are rightly proud of the range of extra-curricular opportunities that are on offer to our students. The 2019/20 trips and visits calendar kicks off today with a music trip to the Royal Opera House which I am sure will be a fantastic experience for all who are attending. There is a lot more to come this term so do look out for our communications on activities both in and out of school over the next few weeks,
