Headteacher's Blog - 21/06/2019

Yesterday evening our magnificent sports field hosted the first ever Stratton Arts Festival showcasing music, dance and drama performances as well as a host of other activities. Despite the weather not being typical for June, we were delighted with the turnout of friends and family who came to support the performers from both Stratton and local middle schools. It takes a huge amount of planning and organisation to run an event like this and it was simply an astonishing team effort involving many staff and students from across the school.

We are very grateful to local businesses who supported the event, as without them we would not have been able to achieve something of this scale. There is so much talent among our local young people, the opportunity to perform at an event like this is both daunting and exciting, and this in turn builds confidence and self-esteem. We are very proud of what they have all achieved and it was great to see so many middle schools involved as well.

Thank you to everyone involved in planning, organising, running stalls and performing – get ready for next year!

I wanted to take this opportunity to say just how pleased we are with the focus and hard work of students in Years 9 and 10 since they stared their new timetable in June. I have seen students really engaged in their lessons and fully participating in activities, creating a very positive learning environment. Much of this is down to teachers planning interesting and challenging lessons and I would like to thank them for keeping up the momentum this half term.
