Dear Y8 student and Parent,
We hope that you are looking forward to coming to Stratton as much as we are looking forward to welcoming you here.
We do understand that you are probably a mixture of very excited and very nervous about moving up to Stratton. We are really very sorry that we have not been able to hold transition days for you this side of the summer holidays; unfortunately government guidelines at the moment do not allow this. We hope though that you have been able to look at all the information on the school website, for example the tours and the information booklets, as well as trying out the bridging work (which can be completed on paper, it doesn't need printing out!). Please do not worry if you cannot complete all the work; dip in and out of the pieces you feel able to do.
We are sending out information about your tutor groups this week via post ; it has taken many, many hours to very carefully put the groups together, using the information that you gave us (if you returned your information forms on time) and in collaboration with your middle schools, so please rest assured that you will be with at least one person you know.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have been unable to issue your new school email addresses; these will be given to you in September. This means that we are unable to run a face-to-face virtual meet the tutor evening as we had first hoped; Miss Hunstone, Mrs Vincent and Ms Hodges will be getting some information to you this week instead and your tutor will be in touch before the end of term via your parents'/carer's email address.
We will be in touch at the beginning of September with our final information about your first day; we cannot get this information to you now because guidelines are changing on a daily basis. Providing we have not had more restrictions placed on us by then, you can expect to start on Monday 7th September.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
