Year 9 PSHE is taught 1 hour per fortnight. Please see the curriculum map below which indicates what is currently being taught. From September 2020 we will be following the new statutory requirements for PSHE (link included).

Currently Key Stage 4 PSHE is taught as part of Core RE.

Curriculum Intent

The aim of PSHE is to explore a range of topics that extend beyond the usual academic subjects. Students should study and reflect on those areas of life that affect us all, developing knowledge, skills understanding, resilience and reflection.

The curriculum is based around the PSHE programme of study which becomes statutory in September 2020, including learning about Relationships, Sex and Health.

There are a number of overarching themes:

  • Health & Well-Being

  • Relationships (RSE)*

We also use the Gatsby 8 Pillars to inform our careers programme.
