GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature

English at Stratton leads to two GCSEs. One in GCSE English Language and the other in GCSE English Literature.

GCSE English Language enables students of all abilities to develop the skills they need to read, understand and analyse a wide range of different texts covering the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries as well as to write clearly, coherently and accurately. This course is assessed through two examinations at the end of the course. There is no coursework component for this subject.

English Literature will enable all students to develop their reading and analytical skills through the study of a range of texts from different time periods. This course is assessed through two examinations at the end of the course. There is no coursework component for this subject.

It is expected that almost all students will study both GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature
